Pwnie express

Via Ars Technica, here's a lovely little gadget for you security-minded types.

The Pwn Plug literally plugs into a power socket and can be used to (ahem) penetration test your network. Pre-loaded with hacky goodness you can test any network within wireless range.

No doubt this widget has perfectly legitimate uses, but it's no longer good enough to periodically run your eye over all power outlets looking for suspicious white boxes. You also have to visit the offices next door, above you, across the street... even that van parked down the road with the 12 V -> 240 V inverter.

Things just got real.
