Doing more with less

At Granular IT we believe that, for start-up and small businesses, the quality, capacity and reliability of low cost cloud solutions now totally overwhelms any additional benefits brought by expensive, inflexible and vulnerable locally hosted solutions.

Please don't misunderstand us, we have (and still do) manage traditional 'servers and switches' IT environments for medium and large companies in central london. In fact, if you have one, we would love to manage yours! But, if you don't, we think there is a better path.

Head in the cloud thinking

With our development hat on as much as our IT (erm...) waistcoat, we marvel at the continued evolution of cloud resources. There are now many cheap but immensely capable online resources; programmed, updated and maintained by huge transnational development teams, all hosted within server rooms bigger than your office and regularly backed up at equally massive sites around the world.

If the world's largest software providers are willing to take on your hardware responsibilities, maybe you should let them. This isn't buying industry standard IT, it's using the industry's own IT.

Granularity

So how do you make best use of these cloud solutions? You need to create accounts, set permissions, customize interfaces, import existing datasets, establish sensible common user protocols, train users, manage an archive... or you need someone to do it for you.
